Classification: Variety of chalcedony, variously colored and patterned. There are 17 species of this stone, but the most valuable of them is the one which resembles most to diamond.
Varieties: red, green, yellow, brown, patterned, silver leaf, leopard skin. The name of ta specific jasper variety is given by the pattern of colors and shapes.

Legend: In antiquity, it was one of the most and the most appreciated stones. It was said it sent negative energies back to the source which had sent them (used at breaking spells) and that it protected against spiders and snake bites. In the 4th century, American Indians believed it could bring rain. It was believed it protected against nightmares and epilepsy.
